Polo Fields Update

City of Edinburgh Council adopted the new Local Plan on 28 Jan 10 which designates the Dreghorn Polo Fields as an Area of Great Landscape Value (AGLV) and Local Nature Reserve and therefore not available for housing.  However the fight to preserve this open space may not yet be over.

DREGHORN POLO FIELDS

City of Edinburgh Planning Committee voted to reject the Edinburgh City Local Plan Enquiry Reporter's decision to allow building on the Dreghorn Polo Fields. This was very positive news for Colinton.  However the Edinburgh City Local Plan has not yet been formaly adopted and Turley Associates on behalf of Taylor Wimpey and Miller Homes, have submitted a Pre-Application Proposal to CEC Planning with respect to the proposed development of dwelling houses (including affordable housing provision) and associated access roads, open space, tree planting, enhancement of existing pedestrian routes and ancilliary works at the Dreghorn Polofields.

CAA's position remains unaltered in its opposition to building on the Dreghorn Polofields.

There are to be developer consultations with the Community and CAA at dates and times to be arranged.
