global_warmingWhether one believes, or not, that our activities are having a serious effect on our climate, Colinton Amenity Association would be remiss in it's role if it were not to consider ecological aspects of Colinton.

This would include recycling, energy conservation and home insulation, particularly as a large portion of Colinton falls within a conservation area which poses certain restrictions on what can be done to a property to improve it's carbon footprint. That doesn't necesarily rule out Solar energy generations systems which are covered in a separate article.

solar_pv_panelsOne would have been very lucky, or perhaps unlucky not to have had a phone call or visit from a company promoting some kind of Solar Energy.

The Government has promised to subsidise domestic energy generation in various forms for the next 25 years and the paybacks appear to be substantially better than any return offered by most investments *.
